I thought everyone knew about Freecycle!?!?!  Then I ran into an old friend today who was getting a new recliner for Christmas and was wondering what to do with her old one.  She was wondering if she put it out on the curb with a sign that said free if some one that needed it would take it. I suggested she post it on Freecycle and say that whoever wanted it had to come and take it away.

The Great Falls Freecycle™ Network on yahoo is open to all who want to “recycle” that special something rather than throw it away.  Just join the group and post what you have or what you need.  Everything posted must be free.  Your junk or unwanted items could be some one else’s treasure!

I especially recommend this for things that are too big/ heavy for you to haul to one of the charities like Salvation Army. Otherwise, I think donating your things to a qualified charity so that you can take a tax deduction for it is always your best financial strategy.  (Watch for a future post on charitable giving.)
