Thanks to recent changes in the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act the three (3) nationwide consumer reporting agencies (TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian) are required to provide, at your request, a copy of your free credit report once every twelve months. When you receive it, go over it carefully looking for any errors or ommisions then file it in a safe place and use it to compare to next years. Having your prior years report and being able to compare your current report to it will make it easier to spot changes and make any corrections.
Three easy ways to request a free report:
#1. Visit the one site authorized by all three agencies to request the report. By checking out the
Internet website: www.annualcreditreport.com.
#2. To Request your Credit Report by Phone:
Call 1-877-322-8228
You will go through a simple verification process over the phone.
Your reports will be mailed to you within 15 days. Please, allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.
#3. To Request your Credit Report by Mail:
Download the request form
Print and complete the form
Mail the completed form to:
Annual Credit Report Request Service
P.O. Box 105281
Atlanta, GA 30348-5281
Security: Please use the request form authorized by the site only.
Your reports will be mailed to you within 15 days. Please, allow 2-3 weeks for delivery
