I read a quote the other day that I knew I had to share it with you because it speaks to a subject that I really have not addressed yet. The subject is the willingness to change, and the quote in question is attributed to James Gordon, M.D. The quote is: “It’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t. It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not.”
There is an awful lot of truth in that statement. It takes willpower when it comes to getting organized, setting up lasting systems and creating a lifestyle change, but experience has taught me that until one is mentally ready for change, that willpower will always elude you. (The paperwork, finances, debt, etc. will continue to win until you truly decide to take control.)
The truth is that you can’t change anything about your life until you change your mind to change, or if I can summarize Dr. Gordon, until you are truly ready. Whether it’s finally getting organized, getting a better job, kicking a smoking habit or whatever else you want to change, it won’t happen until you are truly ready to accept it.
As Dr. Gordon would put it: some are ready to change and others are not. So my question for you today is this: Are you ready to create change in your life today?
