Now is the time to work with your family to schedule their summer vacation activities.
A simple weekly chart of what is happening can create a great deal of enthusiasm and help you plan ahead. Plus it is a great organizational time management teaching tool for your children in latter life. Post your chart where every one can see it. (Be sure to make room for changes and additions.)
You can print out a calendar for just the summer months from many places on the web. Microsoft Office Online has a bunch of different templates that work with their software HERE. Or you can buy some really fun ones like the one pictured above at Week Logic. They come either ready made or can be a family project.
Involve relatives and other families in the neighborhood to share the work and joy of summer activities. If you plan day trips to the pool, beach, or museums in advance, schedule play dates and picnics, and create anticipation for any family trips or camp, then your children will have a clear sense of how the summer will pass and when school will start again.
This sense of organization is both reassuring and exciting for everyone and very helpful when it comes time for that “What I did on Summer Vacation” school essay.
HAVE FUN!!!!!!
P.S. Remember every time you switch clothes for the season, you should give your closet a quick going thru. If you or your family didn’t wear an item this last season, are you really going to store it for another summer only to not wear it again next year? Get rid of it NOW. Also, discard clothes that don’t fit or are torn, soiled, or just out of fashion.
