This is my first entry into what I hope will be a long relationship with my own blog’o’sphere. Many thanks to David at Greater Falls.com for the inspiration and help!

A little bit about me: My Name is ReAnn Rothwell. I am a born and raised Great Falls girl. My family has been here since my grandpa, Jack Rothwell, moved here in the 1930’s to work with Mr. Eklund (grandpa of Cal and Guy over at Eklund’s Appliance and Furniture) in the tire business.I got my Accounting degree from MSU (go Cats) in 1980, attained my CPA certificate in 1982 and continued working for the family business until I decided I needed to strike out on my own. In 1990, I opened my own Allstate Insurance office. In 1997, I opened my own Independent Insurance office, Rothwell Insurance Center, merging with Western States Insurance in 2003.

After a bad 4-wheeler accident in 2006, I retired from the 12-hour/6-days-a-week days of insurance. I started dusting off my CPA certificate, took a couple of tax refresher courses, and jumped into “Rothwell and Company” doing taxes and payroll work since October of 2006.

One of the greatest needs that I keep seeing was office and paper organization. “Accounting or bookkeeping by box’ where a client would bring me their annual paperwork in cardboard boxes seemed to be the norm. There may be some file folders with receipts loosely categorized in the boxes however, the receipts still needed to be gone thru one by one.

People need help organizing!

So here I am:

Mission: Paper Organization!

Hello ReAnn,
I have glanced at several of your pages and have been really impressed with the lay out and the content. I especially liked the aricle on “Bookkeeping in a Box”. I am guilty of this and every year I set aside goals to structure my receipts. But no, the best I do is put some receipts and records in envevlopes (thanks to Mona) but all the rest goes into the “box”. And i must then pateintly go through the “box” to discover what I have missed. At any rate, you might want to add a response to the blog by giving people an idea of how they should keep their tax records which would make it easier for their tax accountant to find the necessary information.

Hey Re-

I just stopped by to check this out while I had a minute to spare. Actually I didn’t have a spare, but I came up with one anyway. :) I am so impressed with your site! I wish I had whatever it takes to just go it alone. Sure looks like you’re doin great. I will stop by sometime when I’m in the neighborhood. Hope all is well.

Lawrence - thanks so much for the comments. Keep stopping by & I will be giving some good ideas on how to organize your paperwork other than “by Box” soon!
